• The board of directors of the American Association on Mental Retardation (AAMR) officially endorses the Montreal Declaration on Intellectual Disabilities (01.28.05) [see www.aamr.com]

• The President of the organising committee of the Montreal PAHO/WHO Conference on Intellectual Disability, Dr Gaston Harnois, was named "Personality of the week" by the most important French newspaper in Canada, La Presse de Montreal . This award was given in recognition of the Montreal Declaration on intellectual disabilities that was adopted on October 6 th 2004.
